Date: 28th-29th of June,2008 launch: 12 a.m.
Objective target:
To cover as many kilometers as possible as a team of three pilots within 24
hours by riding a kite-buggy.
All runs attempting to break the record will be officially approved by the
International Land and Sandyachting Federation (FISLY).
Teams:
A squad consists of 3 members holding a valid license.
The team members may be chosen from juniors, ladies and gents of either open- or
masterclass except that kiddies stay among themselves within the racing-teams.
Achievements of all three riders will enter the final results (every rider must
at least drive once).
It is permitted to have team aides, however it is forbidden to replace the
launching team.
To meet the minimum requirements every team must own two GPS units, to record
the driven distance.
Each squad will be listed with the teamname in the scores.
The course of events:
Within the paddock is a pit zone for every team, which will be assigned by lot.
Nearby is the transition area.
The driving zone is well flagged for riders and spectators.
In consideration of the wind direction there will be a speedy diamond track,
which has to be circled by all riders equally.
At night time markers will appear in artificial lighting.
Marshals will be on duty to supervise the whole race event and to assure a
secured course.
Furthermore they keep records of every team members distance covered, for proper
tracing GPS units are indispensable!
These will be read out and monitored by marshals too.
It is essential that there is only one rider per team racing at a time!
Each squad is asked to arrange the riders order or rather the riders shifts on
their own.
A marshal has to be informed and check the riders name as well as the GPS unit,
before he is allowed to participate.
In addition to this a team aide or member has to announce the ambition to
replace the active team rider by holding an orange flag in front of the pit.
Just after the driving rider rolls into the pit the following may start.
Afterwards the GPS unit of the arrived team member has to be read out,
documented and blanked (reset).
All intermediate results will be displayed at an info board.
At nightfall, however at 21 p.m. at the latest all riders and buggys have got to
be illuminated en-route.
Kiddies are excluded from night drive (from 22 p.m. on)!
Equipment:
The German Parakart Association (GPA) provides the lighting for the kite-buggys
on bond for 20,00 €.
All teams need to care for gaffer tape and cable clip to fix the gadgets at the
kite-buggy.
The organizer supplies snap light sticks to illuminate the kites after dark.
Each team will be able to charge their batteries for the GPS units, provided
they bring multi-outlet power strips.
The teams are to bring small tents, camping mats and sleeping bags for the
resting periods.
Sufficient food and drink supplies will have to be brought as well.
